AVRwell and Invincikids Unite to Enhance Children's Access to XR Therapy

We’re excited to announce our collaboration with Invincikids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming pediatric healthcare experiences through immersive technology. Together, we're introducing a suite of XR therapy applications designed to support children during and after medical treatments, aiming to make their healthcare journeys more engaging, intuitive, and research-informed.

Invincikids: Revolutionizing Pediatric Healthcare with Compassion and Technology

Invincikids was founded by a team of Stanford pediatric anesthesiologists who observed the calming effects of immersive technologies, like VR, on children undergoing medical procedures. Recognizing the potential to reduce anxiety and improve patient outcomes, they developed solutions like the Bedside Entertainment and Relaxation Theater (BERT) and expanded their offerings to include a range of immersive applications. Their mission is clear: to increase access to immersive technologies for pain management in children across healthcare settings worldwide .

Their core values emphasize:

  • Compassion and Empathy: Building genuine relationships and understanding patient needs.

  • Shared and Open Access: Believing that technology and resources should be available to all, fostering collaboration and advancements in the field.

  • Community-Driven Innovation: Collaborating with a diverse group of experts to create sustainable solutions that improve health and well-being for all patients .

How AVRwell Complements Invincikids' Vision

At AVRwell, our commitment to developing clinically guided XR therapy applications aligns seamlessly with Invincikids' mission. Our platform-neutral apps are designed for real-world clinical settings, enhancing patient outcomes through accessible, affordable, and evidence-based tools.

Through this partnership, we're providing:

  • AquaVision: An ocean-themed oculomotor training app that helps strengthen focus and eye coordination.

  • Mindfulness Suite: A collection of calming tools, including Breathe XR (guided breathing), Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), and Soundscape Distraction (immersive audio-visual experiences to reduce pain perception and anxiety).

These applications are distributed via ManageXR as time-limited APKs, offering a 90-day access window starting May 20, 2025. This early-access period allows clinicians and families to evaluate the apps in real-world settings and provide valuable feedback to inform future development.

Expanding Access Through Institutional and ACCESS Partnerships

Invincikids collaborates with over 85 top children's hospitals and research institutions globally, providing free immersive technology software developed at Stanford University and other leading research partners. They offer support to Institutional Partners, training staff and advising on the integration of immersive technology into unique clinical settings.

For healthcare facilities serving underserved pediatric populations, Invincikids' ACCESS Partners program provides donated VR hardware, no-cost software, and ongoing support to reduce barriers in care. These partners operate in challenging clinical environments, utilizing immersive technology to reduce anxiety, decrease the need for pharmacological interventions, and improve patient outcomes through physical therapy support and general movement .
